That fancy new miter saw I bought keeps drifting out of square
Picked up a DeWalt 780 a few months back for a kitchen remodel I was doing in Austin. First few weeks it was dead on perfect, cuts like butter. Then last Tuesday I'm putting up crown molding and noticed my corners were all gapped by like 1/16th of an inch. Checked the saw and the blade was damn near 2 degrees off from the fence. I've been using a digital angle gauge to reset it every morning now, but I'm wondering if the saw is just junk or if I'm missing something obvious with the adjustment screws. Anyone else deal with a saw that just won't hold its setting over time?

Man, I used to think those digital gauges were just an excuse to buy another tool, you know? I was all about the old squaring method with a combo square and a feeler gauge. But after fighting with a table saw fence that kept walking out on me last year, I broke down and got one. Honestly, it's a total game changer for catching those tiny drifts before they ruin a whole day of work. Now I'm checking the arbor flange for crud every time I swap blades, because a little piece of sawdust or pitch was actually throwing my whole cut off a hair. That 780 is a solid saw, so it's probably not junk, just needs a deep clean and a fresh look at those adjustment screws.
