Rant: Picked between two brands of tack strip and I'm second guessing myself
I've always used the cheaper 1 inch ones but my supplier talked me into trying the heavy duty 1.25 inch for a hallway job in Sacramento. Now I can't tell if the extra grip is worth the cost or if I'm just imagining it, anyone got a strong opinion on this?

A buddy of mine switched to the heavy duty strip on a rental he was fixing up and swore the carpet felt tighter underfoot. Six months later he ripped it all out anyway after the tenant's dog trashed the place, so he never got a real answer on whether it held up better. My take is the wider strip helps most on stairs and doorways where traffic is heavy, but for a plain hallway the cheap stuff usually does fine.
