Can we talk about how everyone swears by power sweeping now? I still do 90% of my flues with a basic poly brush
I keep seeing guys on here talk about rigging up drills and rotary whips for every job, but after 11 seasons I've found that a standard 8 inch poly brush on rods handles most residential flues better, especially older brick ones in towns like Salem where the mortar is already soft. Power spinning those just chews up the joints, and I've fixed two chimneys this spring that got grooved out by a whip. Curious if anyone else has gone back to hand brushing, or am I just getting set in my ways?
