Got a call for a blocked flue in an old farmhouse near Salem and found a full owl nest

I was up on the roof, camera down the chimney, and saw a big tangle of sticks about four feet down. The homeowner said they heard scratching for a month. I had to get a long, flexible grabber tool and very slowly pull it all out piece by piece, making sure no eggs or birds were left inside. Took almost two hours, but the draft test was clear after. Anyone else had to deal with a full animal nest removal?

I always thought those stories were made up until I pulled a squirrel nest out of a dryer vent last fall. Changed my whole view on how determined animals can be.

But @kellyallen, was it really a whole nest or just some fluff?

Used to think that was a tall tale until I pulled a raccoon's entire winter stash from a crawl space.

Yeah, that's a den, not a nest.
