Warning: Found a wedding ring in an old chimney flue...
Back in my early days, we'd come across all sorts of things stuck in chimneys... Once, I found a wedding ring in an old flue. The house was being sold by the family, and they had no idea it was there. I thought about keeping it for a second, but it didn't feel right. Now, with everything on video, those kinds of choices don't really come up anymore... kinda bittersweet.

Keeping that ring might have been totally fine! The family never knew it existed, so it wasn't really theirs anymore. Video just keeps everyone honest, which is a good thing in my book!

Seriously, I found a nice watch in a park once and recording myself checking for any owner info saved me a ton of stress. I didn't just pocket it, I looked around and asked a few people nearby first. Having that video meant I could prove my intentions were good if anyone asked. It's not about being sneaky, it's about protecting yourself while doing the right thing.

Last weekend at a community yard sale, I saw a guy recording a video while buying a vintage lamp! He said it was to avoid any later disputes about the condition. It's like we've moved from a handshake deal to a documented transaction in so many parts of life. Even returning a borrowed lawnmower gets a quick video sometimes!
