Am I the only one who thinks a small deposit would kill most ghosting before it starts?
Had a client in Fort Worth go quiet on me for 19 days right after I'd already spent two full Saturdays on their job, and all I got when they came back was a one line text saying they'd been busy. That's about 14 hours of my life gone. I started asking for a $150 deposit before I even load the truck, and guess what, the people who were never serious just stop texting me. One guy actually told me he'd never paid a deposit in 20 years, and I asked him how many times he'd been stood up, and he went real quiet. I'm not trying to nickel and dime anyone, I just want to know you're real before I block out my Saturday. Does anyone here actually collect a deposit, or am I the crazy one for asking?
