Client owed me $3,400 and vanished after I sent the final logo files in Austin
Last Monday I wrapped a branding package for a coffee shop client in Austin after six weeks of work. Sent the final logo files at 9am, invoice attached. By Wednesday her phone was dead, email bounced, and her Instagram was gone. She owes me $3,400 and I still see her shop open on South Congress when I drive by. Has anyone actually gotten paid after a ghost like this, or do I just eat it?
Ugh, that stings. Six weeks of work and she just ghosts you while her shop is still sitting there on South Congress like nothing happened? I feel for you, that is a real kick in the teeth. Small claims in Travis County is probably your best shot since you know where she does business, and a demand letter from a lawyer might shake something loose before it even gets that far. Just keep every email, the invoice, and any texts you have, because a judge is going to want the paper trail. You should not have to eat this one, so don't let it go without a fight.
