Warning: I paid $500 for a client contract template that did nothing to stop ghosting
I bought a $500 "bulletproof" contract template from a freelance guru in Chicago back in March. It had 22 pages of legal language about late fees and kill fees. My next client ghosted me after 3 weeks anyway and owed me $2,100. The template did not help because you cannot sue someone for money they simply do not have. People on here keep saying contracts are the answer to ghosting. They are not, they just give you proof that you were right when you got played. A deposit up front has saved me more money than that contract ever did. Has anyone actually collected a kill fee from a client who vanished?
