Rant: found out after 14 months that I was emailing my main account contact at the wrong time of day
I handle the books for a small print shop in Boise and I always sent my updates Monday mornings at 8am sharp, thinking early equals professional and shows I am on top of things. Then last Tuesday the office manager let slip that she reads everything at 4pm while the presses run, and my Monday emails had been sitting unread at the top of a pile all day, which is why I kept getting "did you send that?" replies. Am I the only one who never asked what time people actually read stuff before assuming my timing was fine?

A buddy of mine ran a tiny bike repair shop and sent all his quotes Tuesday nights because that was when he had time, and nobody ever replied until Thursday or Friday. Turns out his customers were weekend riders who cleared their inbox Saturday morning with coffee, so his quotes always looked stale by the time they got seen. Timing is just a guess until someone tells you the truth, and most of us never ask.
