Can we talk about how saying no to a client is actually the best thing I ever did for my business?
Everyone in this community says you should always try to keep the client happy, but last week I finally told a guy in Portland no for the first time after he asked me to do a fourth round of revisions on a logo for free. I run a small design shop and I was so scared he would walk, but instead he actually respected me more and paid for the extra work without complaining. The crazy part is that one phone call took 20 minutes and saved me probably 10 hours of unpaid back and forth. Has anyone else noticed that the clients who push hardest on price are the same ones who stick around longest when you hold your ground?
Good for you for standing your ground, that took guts the first time. It's wild how the ones who nickel and dime you are the same ones who never leave, right?
