Itemized invoice beat my old flat rate after one bad client

Had a guy in Austin try to haggle a $1,200 job down because my old invoice just said 'services'. Switched to breaking down every material and hour on the sheet, he paid full amount and even apologized. Has anyone else found that showing line items makes clients back off on price?

Honestly, most folks are just scared of hidden fees, not the total price.

The real issue is what happens after the sale. People get burned by add-ons that show up later, like mandatory "processing fees" or service charges that weren't in the fine print. Even if the upfront price is clear, nobody wants to feel like they're being nickeled and dimed two weeks down the road. That's where the trust actually breaks down.
