inI always thought a 3/8 inch joint was fine for everything, but a job in Phoenix changed my mind.
So you're saying wider joints are actually better in cold places? I always thought tight joints looked nicer so that's what I used to do. But after reading what happened to your buddy and seeing what @kevinallen said about his sand mix, it makes total sense. Letting the stones move a little and having a joint filler that drains is way smarter than just going for looks. I guess I'd rather have a patio that stays flat.

inCan we talk about how people keep messing up the 'entire agreement' clause?
Mine says all prior talks are dead.

inA retired tech from Dayton said he used to diagnose weird electrical issues by feeling for heat with his bare hand before pulling out the meter.
Oh man, that "too hot to touch" thing is a dead giveaway! I had the exact same thing happen on my old truck. The blower would only work on high, and sure enough, that resistor pack was cooking. @kai_foster, it was a real common issue on those older Ford pickups. You just can't beat the simple touch test for a quick check before you start throwing parts at it.

inUpdate: My go-to payment platform froze my account with $2,300 in it last Tuesday.
Backup plans just make you sloppy.

inPSA: I finally figured out why my grocery bill was always so high
Forget the fridge, think about the trash can. I had a buddy doing the same thing and his recycling bin was just a tower of branded cardboard boxes every week. The real cost isn't just the food, it's all the single-use containers, the plastic cutlery packets you never open, and those little sauce cups that pile up. You're basically paying a premium to create a huge amount of waste, which feels bad even before you look at your bank statement.
