The 16-penny nail that bent three times and made me question my hammer
The whole ordeal took about 20 minutes for something that should have taken 30 seconds. My neighbor walked over and said 'you're fighting it too hard' and that honestly made me more mad than the nail itself. I tried a different angle, I tried a heavier swing, nothing mattered until I pre-drilled. Now I'm wondering if my hammer is losing its face or if that specific nail was just cursed from the factory. Has anyone else had a single nail from a fresh box ruin the whole vibe of a project?

Honestly sounds like the nail was fine and your hammer's got plenty of face left, predrilling just made the job easy.
