Raised my hourly rate by $15 for a new guy in Nashville and he said yes on the spot
I had braced myself for a haggle after getting burned by a lowballer in March, but he just asked where to send the deposit, which makes me wonder if I should have asked for way more.
What made you pick that number in the first place? Like did you base it on what other people in Nashville are charging, or just what felt right for your budget? Because if he said yes that fast, chances are he was expecting to pay more or he had other quotes that were higher. I've seen this happen to buddies of mine where the client or the hire just jumps on it and you're left wondering for weeks if you left money on the table. Next time maybe test the waters with a higher number and see what happens, worst case they counter and you meet somewhere in the middle. Just don't beat yourself up too much, a yes is still a yes and you got the guy you wanted.
