TIL that charging a 50% deposit upfront is not rude, it is the only thing that keeps bad clients away
I used to think asking for half the money before starting a project was insulting to clients and would scare off good ones. Then a guy in Austin stiffed me on $1,200 worth of design work, ghosted me for 3 weeks, and left me eating the cost. Since I started requiring 50% down on everything, the flakes disappear and the real clients do not even blink at it. So my question is, what deposit percentage do you all use, or am I being too soft at half?

Man, half seems steep, I only ask for 25% and still weed out the flakes fine.
