A client in Phoenix asked for a full website redesign but kept changing the main page layout after I sent the final files.
I finished the project last month and sent the final invoice for $2,500, but now they're refusing to pay the last 30% because they want more free revisions. I told them the contract only covered three rounds of changes, which we did. Has anyone else had a client try to renegotiate payment after the work was already done?

Wait they want MORE free work after the final invoice?

Phoenix clients, man. That last 30% is always the fight. Had a guy try the same thing on a logo project. You gotta hold the line on the contract terms. Send a final demand letter, then maybe small claims court. They're betting you'll just walk away.

Tell me about it. I once spent more time chasing the final payment than I did on the actual design work. You're right, you just have to stand firm and follow through.

Read an article that said over 60% of freelancers deal with clients trying to squeeze out free revisions after delivery. @perry.jesse nailed it earlier, because once you let them push past the contract terms, they'll keep testing those boundaries. Small claims court is your best bet when they're banking on you giving up.
