Spent 5 hours on a $250 logo because the client kept saying 'make it pop'
I quoted 2 rounds of revisions but we're on round 9 now and she still hasn't approved anything, so how do you all handle clients who can't give clear feedback without just eating the lost time?
Round 9 on a $250 logo means you're making like $8 an hour at this point. First thing, stop the free work. Send her an email saying "we've used the 2 included rounds, more changes are $50 each, want to keep going?" That usually snaps people out of it because now "make it pop" costs them money. Second, stop asking what she wants and start asking her to pick. Send 3 versions and say "reply with A, B, or C and I'll finish it up." Open ended feedback is how you end up on round 9. If she still won't choose, you bill for what you've done, hand over the files, and walk. A $250 client who eats 20 hours is not a client, it's a hobby.
