Warning: client went from sending 3 pagers a day to ghosting me once I asked for a $600 deposit
Been doing freelance logo work for about 18 months now and I thought I finally caught a good one back in April. This guy from a gym in Fresno emailed me daily, super friendly, sent me mood boards, called me twice to talk about "the vision." Then I sent my normal contract with a $600 deposit up front and something flipped overnight. Replies went from within an hour to 2 days, then a week, then he started saying his partner needed to "review the budget." Compare that to a restaurant client last month who paid half before I even opened Figma. The change happened the second money got real, not when the work got real. Now I read slow replies on a deposit question as a loud no. How do you all handle the ones who are all chat until the invoice shows up?
