I finally stopped touching off with a paper slip after what happened at the shop in Wichita
Two years back I watched a guy at Wichita Tool & Die crash a 3/4 inch end mill into a vise because his paper slip was old and thin and he never felt it grab. The setup guy there, Dale, ran everything off an electronic edge finder and swore by it. Half the old timers on that floor still said you can't beat the feel of paper. I switched to the edge finder the next week and my scrap rate fell off a cliff. Which side are you on, paper feel or the electronic touch off?
