Just hit 10,000 hours on the same Haas VF-2 and it feels weird

I was checking the machine log today and the total runtime was exactly 10,001. I've been running this same mill for almost 8 years now, through three different shops. Has anyone else gotten weirdly attached to a specific machine they've run forever?

Honestly it's just a machine, right? That's a lot of hours but it's not like it has feelings. I've used the same van for work for years and when it finally died I just got another one.

Oh man, that reminds me of my buddy who drove his old pickup for 300,000 miles. When the engine finally quit, he got out and actually patted the hood goodbye. He said it felt like losing a crew member who never called in sick.

Yeah, that's a real thing... it's not just a machine when you've put that much of your own time into it. You learn all its little noises and quirks, what it likes and what it hates. Feels like a partner after a while.
