PSA: Stop telling new guys to crank the rapids to 100%, I watched a guy crash a $90k Haas last Tuesday in Rockford
Everyone parrots "speed up your rapids" like it's free money, but that advice cost a kid his job at our plant last Tuesday when he rapid'd a 3 inch face mill straight into a vise in Rockford and snapped the spindle taper. We run 50% rapids on everything under 12 inches of travel, and our cycle times barely moved. Anybody else run slower rapids on purpose, or am I the only one who thinks the speed bragging is nonsense?

What spindle rpm was he pushing with that face mill?
