Spent $80 on a used set of carbide end mills and it was a total gamble

Picked up a lot of 10 from a guy on Facebook Marketplace, figured even if half were dull I'd break even. Turns out 8 out of 10 cut like butter on some 4140 I had to run last Friday. Anyone else ever score decent tooling from random sellers or just me?

8 good out of 10 on marketplace is wild luck, it's like that garage sale rule where you either find gold or straight garbage with nothing in between.

Hold on, you're selling yourself short. Marketplace has search filters and saved searches for a reason, you just have to actually use them to weed out the junk before you even message anyone. Plenty of people list things with fair prices and honest descriptions, it's not all a crapshoot. If you're going in blind without sorting by distance or condition, isn't that kinda asking for trouble?
