I finally tried resting brisket in a cooler instead of on the counter and it blew my mind

That "game changer" line got me thinking. My buddy tried to convince me to switch to this new protein powder last month. Said it was the best thing since sliced bread. I tried it once and it tasted like cardboard mixed with dirt. Went straight back to my old stuff the next day.

My water heater died and I actually saved money by fixing it myself

Wait, you're telling me you could've just flushed $200 down the toilet for a plumber but instead you became a YouTube certified water heater engineer for less than thirty bucks? Bro, don't be out here exposing the whole trade like that. Next thing you know, people are gonna realize a fridge compressor is just a big loud fan and some magic gas. For real though, good on you for not getting scammed, I've seen people pay like $500 for a "diagnostic fee" and a part that costs $15 on Amazon. Just don't tell my dad I said that, he's been a plumber for 30 years and he'd lose his mind.

Warning about asking for a rate bump on a long term job

That "tying the rate to the project scope" part hit hard. My buddy had a similar thing with a studio. They gave him a weekly rate but then kept cutting the hours each month. @wade_anderson, your minimum hour guarantee is smart. He didn't push back on the hours until it was too late. They just slowly starved his time until he was working for basically nothing. Now he's way more careful about that stuff, but it cost him a few months of lost income to learn.

Appreciation post: That ranger at Badlands who yelled at me for using a tripod

Respectfully gotta disagree here. Honestly, a beanbag on the ground works fine for a lot of shots but a tripod gives you way more control over composition and sharpness, especially at 2 AM. Ngl, that ranger yelling at you seems like a bit much - they could have just explained the rule nicely instead of making it a whole thing. Tbh, I've set up a tripod on the boardwalk plenty of times at other parks and never had an issue, so this feels like one ranger being overzealous. Maybe just pick a less busy spot next time and keep the tripod low to avoid blocking the path.

Spent 45 minutes hunting a squeak that was a loose bottle cage bolt

Drove myself CRAZY last month chasing a rattle that turned out to be a loose penny in the center console. @ben_fisher would probably call it a rookie move but we've all been there.
