Tapered end mill vs. flat for 3D carving, my night and day switch
Spent the last two weeks roughing out a walnut sign with a 1/4 flat end mill and the finish passes looked like sand dunes. Swapped to a 2 flute 1/8 tapered ball nose on the same file, same feeds, and the surface came out nearly glassy after one go. Anyone else stick with flats forever and then feel dumb about the toolpath cleanup?
