A guy in my Discord asked me why I type code instead of copy pasting it, and it made me rethink how I learn
Last week a guy in a beginner Discord asked me why I bother typing out every example by hand when I could just copy paste from the tutorial. I said it was slower but I remembered it better, but honestly I had never really thought about why until he asked. When you type it out you hit every bracket and comma, and your brain has to notice when something breaks. Copy paste skips all of that and suddenly a missing semicolon on line 47 becomes a 20 minute mystery with no clues. I looked back at my own notes and the stuff I typed out stuck, and the stuff I pasted was gone a day later. So my question is, does anyone actually learn by copying examples or do you all type them too?
