My nephew in Fort Worth showed me Scratch and I felt like I'd been learning to code wrong for 2 years
He is 11 and he built a little space game in about an hour, dragging blocks around, and I sat there kind of stunned because I had spent months stuck on semicolons in a Python book. What got me was when he said "I just keep pressing the green flag until it works," which is honestly more debugging than I was doing at his age. Now I wonder if I should have started with something visual instead of jumping straight into text. Has anyone here gone back and tried Scratch after already learning a real language, or does it just feel too slow once you know loops?
