Guy at the diner near my shop asked why I still weigh beans, and it got me thinking
He saw me with the scale on the counter last Tuesday and asked why I don't just scoop and eyeball it like his grandmother did for 40 years. I told him she probably had the same scoop and the same tin for all those years, so her eyeball was calibrated. He laughed and admitted his morning cup has gotten worse since he switched to a new bag every two weeks, never adjusting how much he dumps in. That made me realize how much of my routine came from sticking with one thing long enough to learn it. Curious how many of you weigh beans versus just scoop, and if you scoop, has anyone stuck with one scoop long enough to trust it?
