Had one perfect coffee morning last spring and it's haunted me since

I was up at 5am in Portland (visiting my sister) with nothing to do, so I walked to this tiny roastery called Never Coffee and ordered a pour-over from a Kenyan bean they just got in. The flavor was like blueberry and brown sugar mixing together perfectly, every sip was warm and bright and I swear I felt the sun come up right as I took the last drink. Has anyone else had a single coffee experience that was so good it ruined your normal morning routine for months after?

Grabbed a bag of those same Kenyan beans from Never the next day and tried brewing them at home. It wasn't quite the same - the light was different, the air was different, I wasn't in that headspace. But I still buy a bag every time I'm back in Portland, just chasing that one morning. It's wild how the setting matters just as much as the coffee itself.

Grind fresh and use water just off the boil.
