Bagged boards vs. raw boxes, I made the switch after a flood scare

My basement took on water last spring after a storm in Columbus. I had 30 long boxes just sitting on the floor, all raw. Lost about 40 books, mostly 90s X-Men. Now everything goes in Mylar sleeves with half-back boards, then into a sealed plastic tote. Cost me like $120 for the setup, but I can sleep now. Anybody else store their keys differently than their filler?

wait, you had 30 boxes just sitting on the floor? like, not even on a pallet or something? i keep all my long boxes on those plastic shelving units, the ones from the hardware store, and even then i get nervous. losing 40 books to one storm is brutal, man. i don't blame you for going full sealed tote. i keep my keys in a fireproof safe now, not because of water but because of a bug problem i had in my garage, and i swear i check it every time it rains. but honestly, the mylar and half-back combo is the way to go, even if it does eat your wallet. better that than crying over a wet stack of Uncanny X-Men. i think i'd just quit the hobby if that happened to me.
