Found out last week that pressing the reset button on my circuit breaker panel actually fixed my flickering basement lights

Had a $150 electrician bill scheduled for next month but after reading a random forum thread about overloaded circuits I hit that little button and everything's been steady for 5 days now - has anyone else had a fix that simple scare you into thinking you'd been overcomplicating things?

Holding off on the electrician is one thing but a garage door that nearly got you to pay a repair guy over a quarter turn screw is a different level. Flickering lights can be a sign of a real problem, a loose connection or something, not just a tripped breaker. Might be worth seeing if those lights stay steady through the next few heavy use days before you cancel that appointment.

Right? So satisfying. I had a similar thing with my garage door opener. Thought the motor was dying, had a repair guy coming out, then my neighbor just pointed out the limit switches were a quarter turn off. Fixed it in ten seconds flat.
