Picked a band mask over a hard hat after my Kirby Morgan cracked in Port Arthur, and I finally breathe easy
Spent the extra $1,200 on the band mask instead of patching the hat, and the face seal alone was worth it on those 90 foot mud dives. Any of you run band masks on shallow stuff, or am I the only one who made the switch?

I ran a band mask on a 40 foot river job last summer and the seal held way better than my old hat ever did. Buddy of mine dove the Gulf for years and he said the band mask shines in shallow murk because you can turn your head without the whole rig fighting you. That $1,200 stings up front but a cracked hat mid-dive is a whole other kind of expensive. How does the band mask handle coming up fast on the shallow stuff?
