A school network at 3am taught me to check DNS first
Last month I got called into a middle school where every site was loading but nothing with a login would work. Turns out their DHCP was handing out a bad DNS server address for two weeks, took me 20 minutes to spot it after crawling through a bunch of logs. Anyone else got a basic step they skip until it bites them?

Dude yes, DNS is the thing I always blame last and it's like always the actual problem. Did the exact same thing at a library once, spent an hour checking switches and cables before I finally looked at what the DHCP was pushing out. Their router had a static entry pointing to an old server from like 2015, just sitting there broken.
