He told me to wait until the bleed water's gone before I touch the edge or I'm just pushing cream around. Now I'm second guessing my whole timing on broom finishes, anybody else change how they float after hearing something like that?
Did you ever watch those old guys in the 80s pour a slab and just stand there smoking while everyone else was itching to get on it? My uncle did flatwork in Phoenix for 30 years and he swore the best tool was a cigarette break. He'd pour, then disappear for 20 minutes, come back and the water was gone and the mud was right. Drove the young guys nuts. I tried it once on a driveway and sure enough, the edges cut clean and the broom pulled perfect. Still can't make myself wait that long most days though.
