Stopped a stranger from ruining their patio with wrong mix tips

I was at the hardware store and overheard a guy telling his friend to use any sand for concrete. I had to step in and explain why that's a disaster waiting to happen. It's crazy how many people think mixing concrete is no big deal. This trade takes years to get right, and bad advice can cost thousands. Do you ever correct DIYers when you see them making big mistakes?

Nah, I let people learn from experience.

Tried giving my cousin step-by-step advice on fixing his car last year. He nodded along, then did the exact opposite of what I said. Broke two more parts. Now he listens, but man, some folks just NEED to touch the hot stove themselves. Saves me the headache of repeating stuff they won't hear anyway.

I read about the Hoover Dam using a special concrete mix that's still solid after nearly 100 years. That's how critical the right materials are. Using the wrong sand can make concrete crumble in a few seasons. I've seen sidewalks and foundation pads crack all the way through because someone used soft masonry sand. That's why I'll always say something if I hear bad advice, it prevents a huge waste of time and money.
