Went to check out a job site in Denver and saw them pouring in the rain

I mean I get that schedules are tight but I watched a crew pour a driveway while it was drizzling last Tuesday. The finisher was out there trying to trowel water into the surface. I had to walk away before I said something. Has anyone else seen crews just ignore the weather like that?

Rain can sometimes hide bad flatwork finishing, it's basically cheating the test.

Well, is it really that big of a deal if they pour in a little rain? I've been around concrete work for years now and honestly, a light drizzle isn't going to ruin a slab if the mix is right. Those finishers know what they're doing, they've got tricks to handle a bit of moisture, like using a dry shake or just timing their work better. The real problem is when guys pour in a downpour or standing water, but a few sprinkles? That's just part of the job when you're on a tight schedule. Besides, that water on the surface can help with the finishing if you know how to work it in, gives you a little extra cream to play with. I've seen plenty of driveways poured in less than perfect weather that held up fine for years, so maybe we're being too hard on that crew.

Doesn't a dry shake usually just sit on top if the surface is already wet?
