The crane inspection clause cost me $2,300 and I never saw it coming
I signed a 6 month crane rental agreement back in March for a job in Gary, Indiana. Buried on page 4 was a line saying the renter pays for a monthly third party inspection, which I skimmed right past. Last Tuesday the inspector found a hydraulic leak I did not cause, but per the wording I got billed $2,300 for the repair plus the inspection fee. I tried to argue that normal wear should fall on the owner, but their guy just pointed at my signature. Has anyone had luck crossing out that inspection clause before signing, or is this just what these contracts look like now?

Normal wear on the machine itself usually stays with the owner, but you signed the paper.
