Guy at a jobsite in Boise watched me use a 4 foot level on a door frame and said 'that level is lying to you'
I was setting a prehung on a remodel job off Cole Road last month. This older finish carpenter I'd never met, he was there doing trim for the homeowner. He pulled a 6 foot Stabila out of his truck and set it right next to mine on the same jamb. His read dead plumb. Mine was off by almost a quarter bubble. The frame itself was fine, it was the level that was out. He said the little ones get dropped and you never notice, and to always check a new level against a known good one before you trust it on a door. I checked my other two at home that night against a laser and one of them was off too. So now I'm wondering how long I've been hanging doors with a bad read. Do you guys actually check your levels or just run them til they break?
