My old framing square was off by 1/16th for 3 years until I dropped it on a jobsite in Denver
I kept blaming my cuts for cabinet gaps in every kitchen remodel, then after the drop I checked it with a machinist square and suddenly my miters were perfect, has anyone else ever had a trusted tool secretly drift on them like that?
Framing squares can definitely get knocked out of true, especially if they take a hit or get tossed around in a truck bed. Dropping it might've just knocked it back into place, but the real issue is you never checked it when you first bought it, so it could've been off the whole time. Your miter saw and table saw probably need a good look too, since 1/16th on a square rarely explains every gap in a kitchen remodel.
