Old timer told me to never buy a laser level under $100. He was dead wrong.
I was doing a drop ceiling job in Charlotte about 2 years ago and an older electrician I worked with said I was wasting money on cheap laser levels. Said they'd never hold calibration. So I bought a $200 Bosch and it worked fine. But last month I grabbed a $40 no-name one from a hardware store just to try. Honestly? It was dead on for a 12 foot span. Has anyone else had good luck with the cheap ones or did I just get lucky?

@lee.cora my buddy bought a $30 laser and it outlasted his Dewalt.

Kinda like how the best $20 toaster I ever had outlasted two fancy KitchenAid ones. Sometimes cheap stuff just works.

Sometimes cheap stuff just works" - that's the truth for a lot of things. It feels like there's a sweet spot where simple tools and appliances just last because they don't have any extra parts to break.
