Saw a guy framing a whole garage with a hammer in Boise last week
Stopped at a job site on State St and watched this older fella pound in every single 16d nail by hand while his framing gun sat in the truck. He told me the noise gives him a headache so he only uses it for sheathing, anybody else know guys like this?

You ever try holding a framing gun all day with your arm up over your head? After a few hours that thing feels like it weighs fifty pounds, so some guys just switch to the hammer to save their shoulder. If your man is older, his arm probably hurts more than the noise does. Nothing wrong with it either, hand nails hold just fine if you know how to swing.
