Stumbled on a stat that says 1 in 5 contractors get sued each year
I was reading a risk management newsletter from NECA and saw that stat, which got me wondering if anyone here has ever had to deal with a lawsuit over something like a faulty tool or a worksite accident.

Tbh I started documenting everything with photos after getting burned on a liability claim and it saved me twice since.

So we're all just one bad day with a Hammer drill away from losing our shirts? Great, I love those odds. I got a buddy who spent two years in court because a homeowner tripped over his extension cord and blamed him for the loose carpet. Now he tapes every cord down with bright yellow duct tape and takes pictures before he leaves every job site. You really gotta wonder if the '1 in 5' counts the guys who get sued by their own clients for using the wrong color caulk.
