My sister who teaches art said fair use is way narrower than I thought, and it's bugging me
My sister teaches high school art in Boise and last weekend she mentioned she can't even let her students redraw a Calvin and Hobbes strip for a class zine because it's not covered under fair use. I always assumed anything for school or no money involved was fine, so now I'm wondering if that flyer I made last year with a song lyric on it was a bad idea. Where do you all draw the line between homage and infringement when there's no money involved?
