Pro tip: sending a DMCA takedown to a client's web host got me paid in 3 days
So I had a client in Denver who owed me $800 for a logo and just stopped replying after I sent the files. I was filing a DMCA takedown on their site to get the logo pulled, and right before I hit send I decided to CC the client on the email to the host. Two days later the host emailed them a notice, and the client called me that same afternoon with a card number. What I learned is that going straight for the host scares clients way more than a demand letter, because it makes their whole site look stolen to strangers. Has anyone else used the host route on a client who ghosted, or does it backfire if they own their own server?
