My hot tools station at the salon gave out mid-blowout yesterday
I've been doing hair for over 15 years now and my old trusty hot tools rack finally gave up on me. It was right in the middle of a busy Saturday, I had a client with thick curly hair halfway through a blowout, and my main curling iron just dropped off the holder and hit the floor. The ceramic cracked right in half. I had to scramble to grab my backup iron from my car, which meant leaving her sitting there for like 5 minutes. It got me thinking about how much stuff we used to work with compared to now. Back in the day I just had a couple of clamps and a table, now I've got this whole setup with mats and organizers and it all breaks eventually. I ended up replacing it with a simple magnetic strip holder from the hardware store for like 15 bucks. Has anyone else had their main station gear fail at the worst possible time?

Honestly, isn't this more about being unprepared than your gear failing? You had a backup iron in your car sure, but you should've had it right there at your station if you knew your setup was old. Tbh, relying on that many tools and organizers just means more things to break on you.

... and of course the one time I tried to get organized with a fancy tool station it had to die on me mid blowout like a soap opera villain. Honestly, I should've learned my lesson after my last setup fell apart during a wedding party trial run. That hardware store magnetic strip idea is genius though, my current setup is just a row of hooks I screwed into my station years ago and I keep praying they hold on.
