Spent $140 on a 10 day pass at a coworking spot in Denver and got zero work done
I grabbed a 10 day hot desk pass at a place in Denver for $140 so I could finally get out of my apartment, but the whole room was basically phone call booths and people chatting in the kitchen all afternoon. I got maybe 2 useful hours in over the whole week and ended up working from a library instead. Does anyone have tips for scouting a spot before paying, like visiting at the hours I actually work?
Man, $140 for ten days is not even a bad price, that is like 14 bucks a day. I gotta push back here. The problem might not be the spot, it might be that you showed up without a plan. A hot desk spot is a shared space, so of course people talk in the kitchen and take calls in booths. That is kind of the whole point of a coworking place. If you need dead silence, you are never gonna find it in a shared office, no matter how much you scout it first. My advice is cheaper than what you paid too: figure out what you actually need before you buy. If it is quiet, go to the library from day one and save the cash. If it is people and energy, then a coworking spot works. You paid to find out which one you are, and now you know.
