Chose a 60 ton RT over a 100 ton AT for a tight plant job in Gary, and I'd make the same call again
Got asked to set 14 steel beams inside an old warehouse in Gary last month. The beams weighed 9,800 pounds each and the picks were all within 40 feet of the tail swing. I could have brought in a 100 ton all terrain for the reach, but the access road was only 12 feet wide with a low pipe rack at the gate. Went with the 60 ton rough terrain instead because it fit through with room to spare. The bigger crane would have needed a week of permits and a shutdown of the plant road. Anyone else run into a spot where the smaller crane was actually the right call?
