My rigging math was off for 8 years, a load chart check in Tulsa fixed it

I used to eyeball center of gravity on picks, thought I had it dialed after years of doing it. Then last month a 14,000 lb transformer swung sideways on me in Tulsa and I spent 4 hours re-rigging the whole lift. Turns out the load chart I needed was right in the cab and I never fully calculated the off-center pick. That mistake made me sit down and actually time my old method vs doing the full math. The proper calculation took 20 minutes total, not the 2 hours I always assumed it would. Now I always do the math on paper first, has anyone else had a close call that made them stop trusting their gut?

Heard the same thing from a crane op in Odessa, math saved his ass too.
