Tagline on the 90 ton in Corpus Christi started to drift and I had to set it down fast
Was picking a 4,200 lb bundle of rebar off a flatbed last Tuesday on a job site off Staples Street in Corpus, and about halfway through the swing the boom started creeping on its own. I stopped everything, checked the outriggers, and sure enough the pad on the curb side had sunk a few inches into soft dirt where the GC told me it was solid. I got the bundle down in a safe spot, then we cribbed the pad with 4x4 blocks and I waited 20 minutes before I even thought about lifting again. Has anyone else had a pad give out like that, and do you guys have a rule for how much you trust the GC when they say the ground is good?
