The tagline trick that stopped my blind picks cold
I kept swinging loads blind over a fence last month at a gig in Tacoma until an old timer showed me to tie a bright rag at the halfway point on my tagline, so I could feel the load height without leaning out the window. Has anyone else rigged something like that, or got a better way to judge height when you can't see the load?

Well that rag trick is basically the poor man's load cell and honestly it probably works better than half the fancy junk they try to sell us. My old foreman used to say if you can't see the load you better be able to feel it, and a strip of cloth beats leaning out the window like a dog with its head in the wind. Course the real pro move is a bright color nobody else uses so you're not playing guessing games when three other guys got rags tied on too. Only thing I'd add is check that knot every morning because a tagline rag that slips is worse than no rag at all.
