inMy take on the 'no extractions' trend from a recent convention in Atlanta
Yeah, my friend went to a new place that swore by that no-extraction rule. She had one of those deep, angry spots on her chin for a solid week (you know, the kind that just throbs). They did a fancy mask and sent her home, but it just got worse. She finally went to her old tech who gently cleared it, and the thing was flat in two days. It's crazy to me to ignore a tool that can give real relief just because it's not trendy right now.

inHad a guy in a Chicago high rise tell me his 'fix' for a sticking door
Oh man, does this remind me of my buddy's place? His super decided the garbage disposal sounded rough, so he filled it with dish soap and ran it. The foam flood was unreal, like a bubble monster took over his kitchen. Some folks just have too much confidence with a can of something.

inI heard a speaker at a conference in Portland say you should never send a 'checking in' follow-up email.
Hold up, that's not what they said at all lol. The speaker's whole point was to stop sending those "just circling back" emails that add no new value. They said to follow up with something useful, like a related article or a quick tip. Sounds like your follow-up actually had substance, which is exactly what they were telling people to do.

inJust realized I was wrong about setting a strict 9-5 schedule for my freelance work.
I mean, feeling guilty for stepping away is kind of the point though. That guilt is what pushes you to stick to the plan and actually get stuff done. Without that pressure, it's way too easy to just push things off forever.

inJust blew $400 on a 'self-leveling' laser that couldn't handle a slight breeze on a driveway job.
Survived one gust and you think it's tough? How many times has it been dropped off a ladder or left out in the rain? A single windy day isn't a real test, it's just luck. Real job site gear gets beat up every single day for years. Your saw got lucky once, that doesn't prove anything about how it will hold up next month.
